The 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) will be held from March 9 to March 20, 2026, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. This pivotal annual gathering will focus on promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls worldwide. The priority theme for CSW70 is ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including efforts to eliminate discriminatory laws, promote inclusive legal systems, and address structural barriers. The review theme will revisit women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as efforts to eliminate violence against women and girls—key components for achieving gender equality. CSW70 will convene UN Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited NGOs from around the world to engage in high-level discussions, interactive dialogues, and side events. The session serves as a global platform for evaluating progress, sharing strategies, and making new commitments to advance women’s rights. Grounded in the legacy of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, CSW70 is expected to shape policies and initiatives that drive systemic change for women and girls globally.
